Barook Habla, Spokes Entity Third Interplanetary and Celebrity Roast, Little Venus 1953
The Third Interplanetary was, in the grand Zontarian tradition, a mixture of business and pleasure. Along with the traditional speeches on the plight of the proletariat, there was an extended floor show. George Sanders did readings from Kafka. Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Joe E. Brown and Timothy Carey roasted Arnold Stang. Orson Wells presented a one-act experimental play starring Spike Jones and his City Slickers as J. Edgar Hoover and his FBI musically investigating the Red menace.
Sun Ra's Space Trio with Wynonie Harris and Paul Robeson performed the grand finale. The Venus Vixen Dancers were beyond expectations The set designed by William Cameron Menzies was continually unfolding, morphing and changing. The fantasy theme of the honest union was enjoyed by all.
