In its early days the Collective experimented with many styles.  Few documents survived.  This performance was a contribution to the Anti-Minstral Movement (or The New Abolitionists), as well as a powerful polemic against the established power structure. Deceptively simple stories and slapstick belly laughs belied the complex issues that they brought to their performances.  Eleanor Roosevelt, Smedley Butler, and Paul Robeson were early supporters.
